Electronic visionary Mechatok, aka Emir Timur Tokdemir, is heading to Australia for his first headline tour in March, to celebrate the release of his kaleidoscopic debut solo album Wide Awake – out now via Young/Remote Control Records.
Inspired by artists like Daft Punk and Gorillaz, Mechatok made his name touring around the world, while releasing a series of records and collaborations with some of the most forward-thinking artists of the past decade – from Drain Gang (Bladee, Ecco2k, Whitearmor, Thaiboy Digital) to Charli xcx to Lorenzo Senni.
His debut solo album crystallizes a journey that is entirely his own, establishing Mechatok not just as a standout collaborator, but as an undeniable solo artist fully in command of his vision. Through the Mechatok persona, he accesses forms of expression that feel paradoxically more intimate and more timeless. Everything on Wide Awake is tied together by a playful yet deeply intuitive sonic palette and a set of core haiku-like lyrical themes.
The Berlin-based DJ and Producer will perform at Brisbane’s Crowbar on Tuesday 17 March, Liberty Hall in Sydney on Thursday 19 March, 170 Russell in Melbourne on Friday 20 March, and The Rechabite in Perth on Saturday 21 March.
An MG Live presale will begin 10am local time on Wednesday 13 August via mg.live/mechatok, with general on sale from 10am local Friday 15 August.
For the first time, Mechatok is bringing his meticulously crafted electronic pop opus to audiences across Australia – for more information, head to mg.live/mechatok.
