Announced: Methyl Ethel – ‘Ubu’ goes Gold!

Methyl Ethel’s ‘Ubu’ is now ARIA Accredited Gold. The single was released on the band’s second record Everything Is Forgotten and placed at #4 in triple j’s Hottest 100 in 2017.

Earlier today ‘Ubu’ was featured on triple j Mornings segment Inspired where Jake Webb, the brainchild of Methyl Ethel, broke down the influences, meanings and writing process behind the song. Listen back to the segment here.

Methyl Ethel, made up of Jake Webb, Thom Stewart and Chris Wright, have enjoyed phenomenal successes over the last years. Having clocked up over 25 million Spotify streams alone, all of the bands tour dates in Australia and the UK since 2016 have sold out.

In 2017 the band won the WAM Awards for Best Album and Best Pop Act. The band are currently nominated for Best Independent Album or EP (Everything Is Forgotten) and Best Independent Single (‘Ubu’) at this years AIR Awards.

Methyl Ethel will play Spin Off and Splendour In The Grass festivals this weekend where they will debut new material from a forthcoming record. They play 4:50PM at Spin Off on Friday 20th July and will play the Splendour In The Grass Amphitheatre at 4:45PM on Saturday 21st July.
