Montreal’s Basia Bulat shares her rousing new single ‘In The Name Of (The Garden Version)’, which features orchestration by Owen Pallett that matches the passionate conviction in her vocal delivery. “When I first wrote it, ‘In the Name Of’ was the song I was most nervous about sharing with anyone, and it’s since become the song I most want to shout from the rooftops,” says Bulat. “It’s a song about living for your own truth, in your own heart, and not accepting anything less.”
Arriving alongside the single is Bulat’s new album The Garden – a reimagination of songs across her five studio albums with stunning classical string quartet arrangements by Pallett, Paul Frith, and Zou Zou Robidoux, and out now via Secret City Records / Remote Control. The Garden fits within a storied history of artists revisiting their songs over time and for Bulat, the album was a chance to record anew select songs whose meanings have shifted from when she originally composed them.
