Future Islands announce a second Melbourne show date, after selling out their first show, following the announcement of their Australian tour dates last week. The Baltimore trio will now also play Tuesday 12 December at The Croxton Bandroom in Melbourne, on top of headline shows in Sydney and Brisbane as well as festival appearances. More details below.
Samuel, William and Gerrit began writing new material in January 2016 on the coast of North Carolina, and continued throughout the year in Baltimore before road-testing these songs at a series of secret shows under fake names. Later that year, they travelled to Los Angeles to record with John Congleton at the legendary Sunset Sound.
Future Islands have distilled the essence of their success and longevity to the themes that fill their records: that there is power in emotional vulnerability, that one can find a way to laugh and cry in the same breath – and be stronger for it. It’s a statement that identifies their unique presence on stage, and soon Australian audiences will once again bear witness to Future Islands, in their dynamic glory.
