Joy Orbison returns with new single ‘red velve7’

Joy Orbison returns to once again side step expectations. If still slipping vol.1 explored Joy Orbison’s musical DNA with a warm casualness equally suited for home listening as on the dancefloor, ‘red velve7′ is music for DJs, soundsystems and dancers – out now via XL Recordings / Remote Control Records. While nodding to O’Grady’s love of drum & bass and its metallic, bass-heavy textures, ‘red velve7’ is yet another characteristically future-facing production from one of the most influential electronic artists of his generation.

Speaking about ‘red velve7’, Joy Orbison says:
“still slipping came from a really distinct place in my head and felt like a bit of an itch i needed to scratch. going back into the studio after that was exciting as i was hungry to explore some new ideas. i’m sitting on quite a lot of new music but i really wanted to get this one in particular out before the end of the year. ‘red velve7’ is basically me on my decks staring at my bedroom wall when i was a kid, wishing i was doing my big intro on the valve sound-system (instead of clanging it up on my belt driven numarks). i feel like i’m just getting started, but more on that in the next few months”
