Lewis Goldmark, releases his debut solo single ‘Twilighting’ via Broken Stone Records & Remote Control Records. Lewis Goldmark is the brainchild of Liam Judson, frontman of the much loved Sydney psychedelic pop group, Belles Will Ring. With this new persona, Liam explores sonic territories that are informed by his musical memories of growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, blended with his warped perception of what is current and what is the pop music of the future. One may find sounds reminiscent of New Order, Sonic Youth, Deerhunter, and Beach Boys.
To this project, Liam also brings his unique production values, being the producer of many highly regarded albums such as Hope Downs by Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Bliss Release by Cloud Control.
The song ‘Twilighting’ is a melodic, heavenly slice of musical dystopia filled with eerie yet blissful harmonies and guitars that sparkle like a mid-winter country night sky. Whilst lyrically the song references several well-known dystopian novels, Liam insists that there’s a more personal element to the track, “Twilighting is a way of me describing the moment just before sleep where your brain wanders off into the craziest thoughts and you accept them – only to realise how crazy they are if you happen to snap out of it and wake up. The fact that you don’t see them as strange thoughts when they’re happening is interesting to me. It’s the twilight of going to sleep. The guitars are meant to glow and represent the purple and pinks of late sunset.”
The track is accompanied by a film clip directed by US artist Ian Backer. Whilst not necessarily taking direct cues from the lyrics, the clip is inspired by the musical landscape within the song.
