On the anniversary of her ARIA nominated album 3 – and on the eve of her national tour – Sydney-based, Papau New Guinean future-soul artist Ngaiire reveals ‘F.U.’, taken from the album’s b-sides. The captivating artist also announces the supports for her lengthy tour this August/September.
Stripped back to the bones of a single piano and spotlighting Ngaiire’s inimitable vocal alongside rousing choral harmonies, the single leaves a lasting impression as a delicate reminder of the importance of relying solely on yourself.
On the theme of the track, Ngaiire explains “F.U.” is more about forgiveness than telling someone to eff off. It’s about the acknowledgement that the people who wrong you don’t stick around to clean up the mess, you have to do it yourself. The challenge is to do it with enough grace that it doesn’t turn you into an arsehole”
As the first chance to see the single live, Ngaiire’s rescheduled Australian and New Zealand album tour begins this week with special guests in each city.
