Jersey tastemaker, artist, DJ and label owner Mike Simonetti looks back over the most creatively accelerated years of his career: 2006 – 2013 with the release of Solipsism (Collected Works 2006–2013), out now.
The LP represents an archival release of music from Simonetti’s tenure as owner of Italians Do It Better spanning from 2006-2013. During that time Simonetti wrote a lot of music. Some of it was used for films, some for TV commercials, some for fashion shows and he even released a record or two.
These eight years not only capture his time launching and developing cult melting pot imprint Italians Do It Better, but also what preceded it and set the scene and the controversial fall-out. Now with time behind him and exciting new ventures such as his 2MR label and synth duo Pale Blue, he is able to look back and reflect on the music behind made behind the sometimes volatile scenes.
The album is chock-full of atmospheric rock-inspired arpeggiated riffs. The mixture of metal and chugging dance music highlights just how unique Simonetti’s imprint on the musical landscape was at the time, and continues to be.
