Blue Poles, the fifth album by Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders is out now. From one of the most singular characters in Australian music, Blue Poles is mournful, sardonic and surreal – showcasing an essential voice and master of musical narrative.
To complement the album release is a mesmerising new video for the song ‘Susan’. Inspired by 1980s psychic hotline infomercials, director Leilani Croucher interpreted the song as someone looking for answers and in the process “losing themselves in the desire to become something else”.
Entirely self produced by Jack Ladder, Blue Poles was recorded at Oceanic Studio in Sydney, engineered by Tim Whiten and mixed in Los Angeles by Noah Georgeson. Once again he’s joined by The Dreamlanders, Australia’s very own misfit supergroup made up of Donny Benét on bass, Laurence Pike on drums and this time two guitarists – Kirin J Callinan and Ben Hauptmann.
After supporting Alex Cameron across the US, Europe and the UK, Jack Ladder has returned to Australia currently hitting arenas as the opening act for The Killers national tour along with Alex Cameron once again. Later in May, Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders will launch Blue Poles in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. Tickets and details below.
