Out now: Parquet Courts – Wide Awake! Remixes

Parquet Courts have released their Wide Awake! Remixes EP, which features an edit by NYC’s Danny Krivit and two remixes by Mikey Young – ‘Wide Awake (Club Mix)’ and ‘Normalization (Collective Witnessing Mix)’. Catch the band tour Australia as part of Laneway Festival 2019. Tour dates and details below!

“I like the spirit of the rock song remixed for the dance floor,” says A. Savage. “Some of my favourite versions of rock songs, like The Units’ ‘High Pressure Days’ or the Happy Mondays’ ‘Kinky Afro’ are remixes. It can make the mood of a song completely change and allow you to approach it with fresh ears, even change the way you see the band.”

Mikey Young’s influence is unavoidable in the Australian independent music scene, whether as a member of Total Control or Eddie Current Suppression Ring, or as a prolific producer and engineer. “Mikey has always impressed me as a musician and person,” says Savage, “but he’s developed a remarkable talent for producing electronic music, as evidenced by projects like Lace Curtain and Total Control. He has a skill of impressing his genius and personality into a track and elevating it to something more.”

Meanwhile, Legendary New York DJ Danny Krivit has shared the stage with everyone from David Mancuso and Larry Levan in the Loft / Paradise Garage days, to Francois K at the Body & Soul parties. He delivered classic vinyl re-edits of tunes from Visage, James Brown, Soulsoul Orchestra, Giorgio Moroder, Kraftwerk, Brainstorm, Thelma Houston, Cerrone and MFSB, among many others.
