Out now: Scout Gillet – one to ten

Scout Gillett has released one to ten – her debut EP for Captured Tracks. Ahead of it’s release Gillett premiered ‘come on let’s go’ – her lush, faithful cover of Broadcast’s The Noise Made by People single – at The FADER with a self-directed and self-shot video. The new cover is one of four (also including Brenda Lee, Ferrante & Teicher, and Blaze Foley) on Scout’s hypnotic introductory EP, one to ten, and follows its recently released original title track

“The covers here complement the title track. one to ten is a peek into my roots and inspiration up until this point in my life,” explains Scout.“I leaned into the diversity of my influences, classics that I grew up with and wanted to share with my own spin.”

Since relocating from Kansas City in 2017, Scout has become a fixture in Brooklyn’s music scene, playing in multiple live bands and even starting her own booking company to organize local shows. Her determined, intrepid nature is the product of a childhood spent running barefoot through rural Missouri and a coming of age in Kansas City’s punk scene. On her debut EP, Scout’s signature velvet vocals soar above soulful, folk-tinged sonics that draw on these roots and her DIY spirit, as she offers an exciting taste of more to come.
