Remote Control & Beggars Music Launch Music Publishing Joint Venture ‘Remote Control Music’

Remote Control is delighted to announce the launch of Remote Control Music, a newly established music publishing division.  Remote Control Music is a joint venture with independent publisher Beggars Music, which has offices in London, New York and Los Angeles.  

Remote Control Music will also represent Beggars Music’s catalogue in Australia and New Zealand. Beggars Music’s impressive roster of artists includes Glass Animals, who topped Triple J’s Hottest 100 this week with their song ‘Heat Waves’, alongside the likes of Car Seat Headrest, Belle & Sebastian, Deerhunter, Snail Mail, DarksideThe Weather Station, This Is The Kit and a catalogue that includes Cat Power and Mica Levi. 

Australian songwriters signed to Remote Control Music will seamlessly plug-in to the worldwide structure offered by Beggars Music.

Remote Control Music are delighted to announce the signing of Gena Rose Bruce.  Gena released her debut album Can’t Make You Love Me on Remote Control’s Dot Dash label, resulting in an invitation to perform at SXSW and her signing booking agencies ATC Live (UK) and Collective Artists (AU)Can’t Make You Love Me was released in the USA, Britain and Europe and received many accolades including NPR ‘All Songs Considered’ featuring the album on their top albums of the week, being nominated for an AMP, and The Age Album of the week. Gena is about to start recording her second album in February.

The company has also acquired Luluc’s catalogue.  Originally hailing from Melbourne, Luluc have been ensconced in the Brooklyn music community with their album Sculptor released through Mistletone/Sub Pop winning worldwide praise including Uncut Magazine’s Album of the Month. The two-piece has had wide-spread critical acclaim from notable champions including J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr., Aaron Dessner of The NationalLucinda Williams and producer Joe Boyd. 

Head of Creative & Licensing Jill Stewart (pictured above) will oversee the operation in Australia. Jill has an extensive background in music supervision, licensing and film production. She has represented both local and international catalogues over the past six years as the Licensing Manager at Remote Control. Prior to Remote Control, she worked with Music Mill as a Music Supervisor and began her career in the film industry as a music editor and sound designer.
