Snail Mail (Lindsey Jordan) recently announced the November 5th release of her new album Valentine via Matador Records / Remote Control Records. Today, the American indie rocker shares a new single ‘Ben Franklin,’ along with a companion music video directed by Josh Coll.
‘Ben Franklin’ sees drum machine and synths enveloping Jordan’s raw and sneering yet vulnerable vocals: Got money, I don’t care about sex / You knew how i’d take it / You brought her to flex. “I wanted to sonically and lyrically get out of my comfort zone with Ben Franklin”, Jordan says. “It felt only right that the visual accompaniment should include dancing in front of a camera and holding a 10 foot snake close to my face.”
‘Ben Franklin’ follows the album’s title track, ‘Valentine’, and its outrageous period drama video, also directed by Coll.
