Award winning Canadian musician and songwriter Patrick Watson has announced his first tour of Australia in over a decade, set to take place along the East Coast this November. Renowned as a vocalist and deeply personal compositions, the artistic worlds Watson has been able to grow across such a successful career of releases and live tours have been remarkable.
Blending genre lines of cabaret pop, classical and indie rock music, Watson’s music has reached global audiences for two decades; his flair for experimenting with form coming together beautifully with nuanced lyricism and ambition.
Watson’s latest album, 2025’s Uh Oh, reintroduced him as one of the finest musicians of his generation and also was positioned as a comeback album of sorts. Made after Watson suffered a vocal cord injury that resulted in him losing his voice for a months-long stretch, Uh Oh features his music performed by a number of guest vocalists including Martha Wainwright, Charlotte Oleena, MARO and Charlotte Cardin. The record earned Watson a Juno Award nomination for ‘Adult Alternative Album Of The Year’, while the Martha Wainwright collaboration ‘House On Fire’ was shortlisted for the 2026 SOCAN Polaris Song Prize.
Bringing Uh Oh to Australia is a special way for Watson to reconnect with his loyal Australian fan base and certainly, the long wait in between tours will mean that these tickets are sure to fly.
Watson’s career milestones have included winning the prestigious Polaris Music Prize for Close To Paradise (2007), as well as achieving over 1 billion streams on Spotify for his 2010 song ‘Je te laisserai des mots’ – the first French song to achieve the feat. Watson’s music has also been featured on a number of television projects that have become part of the pop culture zeitgeist (Grey’s Anatomy, Orange Is The New Black, This Is Us), while as a live performer his shows have continued to win new audiences around the world.
