Odette today shares new single ‘Watch Me Go’, revealing the details of her new album Blink out independently on November 6 via Beloved Records. Odette will return to the stage in November 2026 to perform her triumphant and gritty new album, tickets on sale now – presented by triple j and Select Music.
The older ‘sister’ to her prized early single ‘Watch Me Read You’ – an arresting spoken word undressing of a non-committal partner – ‘Watch Me Go’ amplifies its sentiment of frustration with the gift of hindsight. With perspective and self assessment at the heart of the lyrics, Odette says, “This song is me trying to honour my good intentions and failings as a person.” her confessional songwriting cascades against ‘Watch Me Go’s crescendoing production. The repeated piano melody plays against the mental gymnastics of the relationship at hand. Mounting polyphonic production of strings, keys and percussion ultimately leads her to surrender.
Odette explains, “Watch Me Go is a yearning to understand the rupture of a relationship and the turmoil that went down during its life. This song was written about my first lesbian heartbreak, but I know there are remnants of loss in this song from other failed relationships and people who I no longer speak to after the years where I was not okay. It is a shedding of grief, a realisation of the self and a releasing of shame as I try to break myself from ruminating on the past and accept the present.”
A love letter to enduring hope, Odette’s forthcoming album Blink is a cosmopolitan confessional. Never afraid to hold the mirror against herself, each lyric of prose and meter is layered in decaying texture. Part baroque pop, part jazz-rnb hybrid, Blink is at times sparse, psychedelic (in approach not sound) at others and always witty. She calls it “a beautifully mangled living thing”. A candid recount of the human experience, Blink uncovers what it means to become aware of the world around you; entering young adulthood whilst you try to overcome your own battles. Love, heartbreak, endurance, self-realisation and the terrible places you go and have to fight your way out of in pursuit of where you truly belong.
The timelessness of Yebba, brutally honest lyricism of Lola Young and cult soundscape of the film Amelie lie at the apex of Odette’s music, turning private reckonings into something communal, piercing and transcending. Anchored by piano-led balladry and her unmistakable spoken-word cadence, she straddles tenderness with bite. Odette’s songwriting approach is strengthened by her unique sense of curiosity and openness, expressing vulnerability with unapologetic self-assurance. Made all the more exceptional with Platinum and Gold Certified singles and ARIA Award nominations to her name.
Born in Bath, England and raised in Sydney, Australia, Odette grew up with her parents’ patchwork, eclectic tastes. From her mother’s love of pop and dance music driven by her South African Ximba ancestry, to her father’s pomme-punk, skater-boy nonsense, she grew up surrounded by music, and fell in love with its power to help the self endure difficult moments. Releasing her debut album To a Stranger, which paved the way for her groundbreaking follow up Herald, Odette has consistently carved a lane of her own, with her blend of powerful, tongue-in-cheek, spoken-word poetry.
Odette has graced stages at festivals like Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival, and SXSW Austin, and she sold out two national headline tours for her two previous albums. Her bold, ethereal and captivating humour makes Odette’s shows absolutely unforgettable. Now in her powerful independence, there’s no doubt that the Blink Tour will showcase some of her greatest, if not her best, showmanship to date.
