Mike Simonetti announces Solipsism (Collected Works 2006 – 2013) + shares ‘Illusions’

Mike Simonetti announces the upcoming release of Solipsism (Collected Works 2006 – 2013) on September 18. The LP represents an archival release of music from his tenure as owner of Italians Do It Better, spanning from 2006 – 2013. Today he shares the first track from the collection, ‘Illusions’. Listen below!

Simonetti notes, “‘Illusions’ is an outtake from when I was writing the song ‘The Magician’ for the After Dark 2 compilation for my old record label Italians do it better. I had a few bass lines that were inspired by AC/DC and stuff like that – fist pumping chuggers. There were alternate takes, and ‘Illusions’ was from that session.”

The eight years covered by the upcoming LP captures Simonetti’s time launching and developing his cult melting pot imprint Italians Do It Better. Now, with time behind him and exciting new ventures, the Jersey tastemaker, artist, DJ and label owner is able to look back and reflect on the music behind the sometimes volatile scene.

Solipsism (Collected Works 2006 – 2013) is full of atmospheric rock-inspired arpeggiated riffs. The mixture of metal and chugging dance music highlights just how unique Simonetti’s imprint on the musical landscape was at the time, and continues to be. Pre-order the LP here.
