Daughter release Middle Farm Session, a digital only EP containing the audio from their 7-track filmed performance Live at Middle Farm Studios, released in April last year. The session sees the trio of Elena Tonra, Igor Haefeli and Remi Aguilella return to the intimacy of Middle Farm Studios near Dartmoor, England – where much of their 2023 album Stereo Mind Game was recorded – to perform those songs live for the first time. After more than a decade spent depicting the darkest emotions, Stereo Mind Game is their most optimistic record yet. In the intervening years since their Ivor Novello-nominated soundtrack Music from Before the Storm (2017), Daughter has moved away from their initial London base – Aguilella relocated to Portland, Oregon, Haefeli to Bristol, England – and spent time on their own projects (including Tonra’s debut 2018 solo album under the moniker Ex:Re). However, despite the physical distance – further exacerbated by the pandemic – Daughter continued to meet and write together. Perhaps unsurprisingly connection and disconnection permeate Stereo Mind Game’s twelve songs, grappling with what it means to be separated from loved ones and from yourself both literally and figuratively. Produced by Haefeli and Tonra, Stereo Mind Game was written and recorded in various locations across the UK and North America.
