DJ Python – aka Brian Piñeyro – releases to accomplish many things, out now digitally and as a 12” EP as part of XL’s iconic house bag series. The five-track EP is the follow-up to 2025’s i was put on this earth (“a triumph of gentle reverie and quiet upheaval” – Pitchfork). To mark the release, he shared final single ‘Mi Fai Sorridere’ featuring Dublin-born vocalist, producer & multi-instrumentalist EDEN.

Brian sat waiting for the bus. He was reading Ulysses by James Joyce. It was his third week having moved to London. He didn’t have many friends, and the size of the city intimidated him. One day, he wanted to be a DJ.. a DJ Python.. Who didn’t just DJ.. but made all kinds of music.

“Story horse?” said a young man, with warmth flowing from his voice, eyes….. and overall demeanor… if we’re being quite honest.

“Oh sorry, I’m not Horse, my name’s Brian, sorry, you must have confused me for someone else!”

The young man laughed.

“Oh my bad man – what’s your name, I’m EDEN.”

“Woah, cool name! I’m Brian. Horse is a cool name too! Does Horse also live in London?”

“Sort of, I call lots of people Horse. It’s a nickname or something let’s say. You can be Horse, if you want.”

“OK cool that sounds good. I’ve always wanted to be named Horse… There are a lot of people named Horse in this book I’m reading, it’s pretty interesting. I didn’t know Horse was such a common name.”

“Hahaha yes my g.. You’re reading Ulysses? Do you like it?”

“I do.. I’ve read it a few times. I don’t get it at all to be honest with you brotha… but I love when Molly thinks about stuff. Have you read it?”

“Ayyy me too! I love Molly’s thoughts. Also sometimes I wish Stephen and Leopold would have just joined a football league together, you know?”

“Totally.. But that’d be pretty hard? Do they play football in Ireland?”

“Bahaha that’s good craic.. I meant like the footy.. Not American football. Do you play.”

“Nah man… I never learned… I’m pretty bad.”

“Aw man cmon I’ll teach ya, I’m going to play now – come and at least meet the crew and stuff.”

“Wow OK thanks man! I just moved here you know.. Thanks for being so nice to me 🙂 and inviting me.”

“My pleasure, my broski, life is about being open.. I think.. But yeah why not chat people up here and the.. Friendly type thing. Why not? You seem alright too G!”

“Ah thanks man – hey do you like music? I have a studio, maybe we can work on some after the footba..– I mean footy?”

EDEN smiled. “Yeah man 🙂 Let’s do it.”

DJ Python’s music has always occupied the interesting space in between – reggaeton’s low pulse, ambient’s patience, deep house’s forward motion, the abstracted sounds of downtempo, shoegaze, and pop – and this new EP finds him stretching that even further. A companion to i was put on this earth, the new EP shares that project’s creative DNA while pulling in its own direction. DJ Python steps more fully into the role of singer and songwriter, sharing the mic across a set of collaborators including Ari (of Los Angeles band untitled (halo)), Tony Bontana, and EDEN, while still carving out room for hypnotic solo songs. Across five tracks, the project moves fluidly while retaining the captivating melodies, atmospheric textures, and rhythmic innovation that defined Python’s earlier recordings – Mas Amable, Angel, and Club Sentimientos  Vol 2 – expanding those sounds into something looser, warmer, and harder to categorise.
