Created by Matt Mclean of feeding | ear, the soundtrack for Rumu is out now, and the game now playable via Steam. A creation of Sydney-based game development company Robot House, Rumu joins a list of hit franchises brought to life by the team, including Warhammer 40K: Regicide and Hulabear.
Rumu is an intimate, narrative-driven adventure game about a robot vacuum cleaner becoming self-aware. You are RUMU – a robot designed to clean, and to love. When something draws you away from your home maintenance duties and into the hidden passageways and long forgotten rooms of the house, you’ll be faced with challenging moral dilemmas forcing you beyond your programming to uncover the truth about the love and loss of your elusive family.
The soundtrack provides the sonic landscape through which you, as RUMU, explore your physical and emotional world. Establishing foundations in expertly produced electronic and ambient sounds, you are in turns enveloped in cerebral moments of reflection, launched into heights of euphoria, and plunged into unknowable and dark depths, all the while maintaining your position within an entrancing sense of atmosphere – that which defines the life of Rumu.
On top creating the soundtrack for Rumu, Matt Mclean plays as part of Perth band Lilt, and has also composed for award-winning video games Orwell and Orwell: Ignorance Is Strength.
