Released in February of 2025, John Glacier’s debut album Like A Ribbon compounded the Hackney based rapper, producer and poet’s reputation as one of the UK’s most diverse voices. Pooling together sounds as diverse as rap, electronic music, post-punk, ambient and much more, the album defined Glacier as an artist within her own lane; a lane where she has the freedom to experiment creatively through her singular, almost stream-of-consciousness delivery. Today, John Glacier reveals her first new music of 2026, a brand new single entitled ‘Bond Girl’.
In keeping with the John Glacier ethos of keeping her listeners guessing, ‘Bond Girl’ finds Glacier trading immersive atmospherics for something more kinetic. Co-producing the track with contemporary rap hitmakers Take A Daytrip (Lil Nas X/Travis Scott/Kid Cudi/Dua Lipa), ‘Bond Girl’ employs a sun-kissed, club-inspired bounce that feels inspired by the early days of Detroit techno, anchored by a booming low end, a steady midtempo 4/4 rhythm and oscillating melodics. Despite the track’s focus on inspiring movement, Glacier’s delivery is no-less hypnotic; repeating verses and motifs, chopping and changing the order of lines as if interrupting herself without breaking the track’s inherent flow. It’s another example of Glacier proving the mastery of her craft in subtle ways, instilling the uniqueness within her craft effortlessly.
‘Bond Girl’’s video continues to portray the effortlessness of the track itself. Directed by Lea Ceheivi, the visual depicts John as a secret agent, towing the line between a heroine or a villain. Enjoying the spoils of her work, ‘Bond Girl’ finds John evading and outsmarting those who want to take from her with explosive results.
With the release of ‘Bond Girl’, John Glacier opens up a brand new chapter within the evocative world she has built inside her output. With a bonafide masterpiece debut album already under her belt, 2026 will find Glacier continuing to stake her claim as one of the UK’s most unapologetic, uncategorisable burgeoning stars, taking her bold, vivid music into unchartered territory, and with it, to new heights.
