Wolf & Cub, on the first anniversary of the release for their acclaimed fourth album NIL, have announced the release of new single ‘Blue State – Live’, the first taste of the band’s forthcoming live EP and short film, Dusk at the Watagan Forest Motel – set for release on Friday 10 December via Part Time Records / Remote Control Records.
On April 16th, 2021, in between shows on their most recent Australian tour, the band travelled to a remote location in NSW with the idea to perform and record a selection of live tracks from NIL. Creating a makeshift live setup in the carpark of the Watagan Forest Inn Motel – a road stop motel attached to Brunkerville Caltex in Mulbring, the band powered through a tight but visceral set for a small audience of local residents and passers-by.
Serving as a perfect appetiser for the forthcoming EP is a live rendition of ‘Blue State’ – the celebrated first single from their Air Award nominated album NIL. Announcing itself with that familiar, fantastically tough baseline this live recording retains the swagger and bravado of its recorded counterpart, whilst also injecting it with a sense of danger and urgency that immediately elevates the South Australian Music Award ‘Best Song’ nominated track to a bold new level.
