Liz Stringer returns with triumphant new single ‘Coming Home’, following a premiere on Double J Mornings. The single is a driving, indie-pop satirisation of the so-called perfect relationship.
“I wrote ‘Coming Home’ about the ludicrous idea that we’re fed since we’re small children; that a romantic relationship will be the salve for all that ails in a lifetime. And that, without a romantic partner, we will forever be adrift, unfulfilled and sad. It’s a tongue-in-cheek exploration of what it means to be single, yearning for the perfect partner, something which we hope will save us from ourselves, but something that ultimately doesn’t exist,” said Stringer.
During mid 2023, Stringer embarked on perhaps her most ambitious journey yet, a three month stint at Iguana Studios in Brixton UK to work with Grammy nominated, Ivor Novello Award winning producer and engineer Beni Giles. ‘Coming Home’ is the first glimpse into these sessions.
The single sees Stringer’s return to the fore since the critically lauded 2021 record First Time Really Feeling, which was released in April 2021 through Courtney Barnett’s Milk! Records and debuted at #14 on the ARIA Charts, earned the 2022 AIR Award for Best Blues and Roots Album and a place on the shortlist for APRA’s Song of the Year 2022 for ‘Dangerous’.
Beloved equally for her rock stylings, knee-buckling ballads and a world-class lyrical prowess, First Time Really Feeling showcased Stringer at the top of her game. She returns to continue the winning streak.
