Joy Orbison and Overmono come together once again. This time, they’re stepping into fresh territory with ‘Lippy’, a collaborative new single featuring original vocals from rising Montreal rapper Skiifall. The single premiered as the Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 with Jack Saunders.
‘Lippy’ started during a session at the XL Recordings studio, where Joy Orbison and Overmono began exploring more melodic ideas beyond their previous club-focused collaborations ‘Blind Date’ and ‘Bromley’. Joy O, a longtime fan of Skiifall since ‘Ting Tun Up’, reconnected with him after a previous session, feeling his voice could take the track somewhere unexpected. The result is a cross-Atlantic collaboration crafted between London, Bristol, New York, Montreal, and 30,000 feet in the air that merges Skiifall’s distinctive delivery with Joy Orbison and Overmono’s signature, forward-thinking production.
Already a standout moment in their recent sets, ‘Lippy’ has sparked ecstatic reactions at Primavera, Parklife, Under The K Bridge (NYC), and during Overmono’s headline slots at Parklife, AVA Festival, and Love Saves The Day. It’s quickly emerging as one of this summer’s defining festival anthems. With major performances on the horizon, including headline slots at Glastonbury (West Holts) and Rock Werchter, Lollapalooza, Houghton, ‘Lippy’ is set to soundtrack the season on both sides of the Atlantic.
