Five-piece 1000 Rabbits (FKA Rabbitfoot) release their debut EP Are we friends yet?, a six-track release that captures the band’s first two years in motion. Featuring recent singles ‘Virgin Soil’ and ‘Rubik’s Cube’, the EP arrives digitally and on 12” vinyl as a snapshot of a band defining themselves in real time. The project arrives alongside a brand new video directed by South London artist, Ché Deedigan, capturing it’s energy: a band in motion, evolving, exploring. Watch here.

Written across living rooms, rehearsal spaces, and stages over the course of two years, Are we friends yet? captures a formative chapter: six tracks shaped by time, space, and the energy of the people in the room. Some tracks date back to their earliest days, others are more recent, but together they form a vivid introduction to the band’s world. Each track has been molded through live performance, evolving night after night.

The EP’s title – Are we friends yet? – comes from a defining moment that has emerged in their live show; a question posed by River during the closing track ‘Spring Cleaning’, the final song of both the record and every set they play. It’s a moment that captures both the warmth and vulnerability at the heart of the band.

As they put it themselves, “These are 6 songs that we feel capture our first two years as a band. They are, in some ways, us putting our heart on our sleeve, and saying, ‘this is us. ‘this is what we want to say.’ We’re going to change and develop. These are just beginnings. Thanks to everyone who came and watched us develop these tunes over the past couple of years. You are responsible for these being our favourites; they wouldn’t exist without you.”

1000 Rabbits is an off-kilter art-pop picnic who tell stories through human sounds, both intimate and extroverted. Grounded by playful bass synthesiser, expressive vocal lines weave through a colourful tapestry of violin, guitar and drums, creating something immediate and immersive: rhythm-forward, emotionally raw, and built for bodies in motion. Comprising Laura (violin), Liv (synthesiser), Paolo (guitar), River (vocals) and Luke (drums), the five-piece cut their teeth across London’s independent venues, becoming regulars at The Windmill in Brixton where their high-voltage performances earned them a reputation as local “powerhouses”. Four of the band first met as teenagers, making music together through a music club in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, and later met Paolo after moving to London to study.

1000 Rabbits plan to take their distinctive live set across the UK and Ireland this Summer. Having built their reputation by performing night after night, the band show no signs of slowing down. With a recent headline show at Third Man Records which sold out in minutes, the band is set to travel across the UK and Europe with headline shows in London, Berlin, Glasgow, Cologne, and Roterdam. Peppered amongst these shows are a run of festival show dates including The Great Escape (Brighton), Get Together (Sheffield), Latitude Festival (Suffolk), Reeperbahn Festival (Hamburg), and more.
