Melbourne group Black Cab have released new single and video for ‘Hanna.’ The single comes from a brand new Cab album. Keep your eyes peeled for more release details soon.
The single ‘Hanna’ is an ode to the cosplay community. The song is pulsing and uplifting, filled with vibrant synths and features both GL’s Graeme Pogson on drums plus Lowtide’s Lucy Buckeridge on backup vocals. “She’s a dress up girl / And it’s a dress up world“.
Vocalist Andrew Coates describes the track: “Hanna is a tribute to those cosplay (costume) dreamers who prefer to be other people to escape their reality. Sometimes you’re not alone when you’re someone else.”
The video features a fictional cosplay game show starring real life local cosplayer Captain Megan, together with voice overs from Koji. The clip was pulled together by film maker and video editor Sam Rogers.
‘Hanna’ highlights the sound of the Cab moving back towards tighter, more concise songwriting and live instruments after the last few mostly electronic recordings.
